As a community newspaper reporter, I often have the privilege to interview amazingly talented students and the things they are doing in school.
Central Magnet School in Murfreesboro has a team that is a top 20 competitor in a national STEM competition sponsored by Samsung. They won $50,000. Each team produced a video about their invention, and the public is voting for their favorite video/invention. Central could win another $10,000.
Their video shows me interviewing them and a clip from one of the stories I have written  about them. My general rule as a reporter is to avoid being part of the story, but in this case, I’m proud to be part of their effort.
I joked with my boss that I need an agent now — I was an extra in a movie several years ago.
You can see the clip here. It’s near the bottom of all the videos.
